Selected projects
During the first decade of its existence, ILC became an internationally acclaimed research and educational institution in the field of photonics with the focus on laser technologies, optoelectronics, development and characterization of new materials and nanostructures, biophotonics, as well as new imaging and data visualization methods.
ILC is the project leader of the “Center of Excellence for Design, Preparation and Diagnostics of Nanostructures for Electronics and Photonics (NanoNet)” and participate at the project on the “Support for the Creation of the Center of Excellence for Smart Technologies, Systems and Services“, as well as the project “QUTE – the Center of Excellence for Quantum Technologies” in the framework of the Operational program for research and development-2009/4.1/02-SORO of EU Structural funds.
ILC is also a contractor and the member of the Consortium of the project of European laser centers Laserlab Europe II (www.laserlab-europe.eu) and the member of European technological platform Photonics 21 – the association of industrial businesses, organizations and investors running a business in the field of photonics throughout Europe.
Selected International grants
International scientific and technical cooperation in the framework of European Commission action COST MP0702 – Towards Functional Sub-Wavelength Photonic Structures
- time of realization: 01/2008 – 01/2011
- Partners: 22 countries of EU, Russia, Izrael, Turkey
- Goals: Improve the scientific cooperation within Europe in the field of photonics
SMASH, FP7-GA-228999-2
- time of realization: 01/2011 – 12/2014
- Partners: 14
- Goals: SMASH is an EU funded project within the Seventh Framework Programme, FP7. The project is coordinated by OSRAM Opto Semiconductors GmbH (Germany) and brings together complementary expertise from across Europe. 14 partners from large industry, SMEs, research institutions and universities with established and productive collaborations will participate in the project.
Key success factors for the broad penetration of LEDs into the general lighting market are: high power efficiency and low cost. The concept of SMASH is to establish disruptive approaches that exploit nanostructured compound semiconductors to realize the key market factors of high efficiency and low cost. These will be achieved by epitaxial growth of LED structures on ultra-low defect nanostructured templates and by the development of LEDs based on nanorod emitters.
Integrated Initiative of European Laser Infrastructures – Laserlab Europe,
European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme-No.871124,
- Time of realization: 12/2019 – 11/2023
- Partners: 35 institutes from 18 EU countries.
- Goals: Main objectives are to maintain a sustainable inter-disciplinary network of European national laboratories; to strengthen the European leading role in laser research through Joint Research Activities; and to offer access to state-of-the-art laser research facilities to researchers from all fields of science and from any laboratory in order to perform world-class research. ILC participates in several Networking activities, leading the work package on Training and Development of User Communities. ILC also actively participates in JRA2, leading the task “Label free spectroscopy and imaging” in JRA2.
